I decorate my house twice a year, for Christmas and also for Valentines Day. A third time, if you count Halloween, when I stick a pumpkin outside my house for two months, before it rots and has to be thrown away.<\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t know what it is about Valentines Day, but I love this holiday, especially now that I&#8217;m a mom.\u00a0In general, I love crafting with my kids but Valentines Day\u00a0crafts are the best! Something about making gifts for friends makes it that much more special to them. They take such pride in their work and I love the concentration they put into making each of their gifts\u00a0perfect. And the joy on their faces when they get Valentines Day card from their friends is just priceless.<\/p>\n<p>So back to decorating. It&#8217;s found in the same aisle as plastic wrap and foil. Note that freezer paper is not the same thing as wax or parchment paper. The difference is that freezer paper has a thin plastic-like coating on one side and paper on the opposite side. The plastic side is what makes the paper awesome to use on fabrics. It will temporarily bind to the fabric with a little heat. So if you create stencils from it, the stencils will stick nicely to the fabric and it\u00a0can then be easily pulled away once you are done.<\/p>\n<p>Buy spray fabric paint at your local craft store.<\/p>\n<p>Purchase some <a href=\"https:\/\/bumblebeelinens.com\/linen-towels-hand-towels-c-24_47.html\">linen hand towels<\/a>\u00a0or dress up towels\u00a0that you already have around your house.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"CREATING_THE_STENCIL\"><\/span>CREATING THE STENCIL<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>You can draw out your design on freezer paper (similar to instructions found <a href=\"https:\/\/bumblebeelinens.com\/blog\/tutorial-freezer-paper-stencil-dinner-napkins\/\">here<\/a>) or in my case, you can use a craft cutter.<\/p>\n<p>For Christmas, I received the Silhouette Cameo cutter and I love it. It&#8217;s so easy to use and I can already envision tons of crafts I can use it for.<\/p>\n<p>If you don&#8217;t know what the\u00a0Silhouette Cameo\u00a0is. It&#8217;s an\u00a0electronic cutting tool that plugs\u00a0into your computer, just like a printer.\u00a0But instead of printing paper, the Silhouette Cameo\u00a0uses\u00a0a small blade to cut paper, card stock, vinyl, fabric and more. It can cut up to 12\u2033 wide and 10\u00a0feet\u00a0long.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1480 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/bumblebeelinens.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/StencilSpray1.jpg\" alt=\"StencilSpray1\" width=\"550\" height=\"413\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bumblebeelinens.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/StencilSpray1.jpg 550w, https:\/\/bumblebeelinens.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/StencilSpray1-250x188.jpg 250w, https:\/\/bumblebeelinens.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/StencilSpray1-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I picked two cute Valentines Day designs from their online store and then sent it to my Cameo.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1481 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/bumblebeelinens.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/StencilSpray2.jpg\" alt=\"StencilSpray2\" width=\"550\" height=\"413\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bumblebeelinens.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/StencilSpray2.jpg 550w, https:\/\/bumblebeelinens.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/StencilSpray2-250x188.jpg 250w, https:\/\/bumblebeelinens.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/StencilSpray2-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I placed a piece of\u00a0freezer paper on top of the sticky cutting mat with the plastic coating side down. I then let the Cameo\u00a0do it&#8217;s magic. Plus it&#8217;s super fast and will save you lots of time. I highly\u00a0recommend getting one.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"STENCIL_IT\"><\/span>STENCIL IT<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>First iron the linen hand towel\u00a0flat, removing all the wrinkles.<\/p>\n<p>Place the stencil down with the shiny side of the freezer paper down.<\/p>\n<p>For towels, I like adding the stencil about 2&#8243; above the hem. The stencil is approximately 2.5&#8243; tall.<\/p>\n<p>Dry iron the stencil onto the fabric. This is important in case the fabric bleeds.<\/p>\n<p>Shake your fabric spray slightly before spraying.<\/p>\n<p>Carefully spray your towel with the fabric paint.\u00a0Press halfway down for a splatter effect and all the way down for a mist.<\/p>\n<p>(Unfortunately, I didn&#8217;t figure this out until after I started so learn from my mistakes.
